In this research project, we investigated the effects of increased social interactions at work on employee wellbeing. To study this, SoCo, an artefact that pairs co-workers and assigns them a joint activity to perform each workday, was designed. This design stimulates social interactions between co-workers with playful activities. Although qualitative data suggested promising results: “For some group members, it helped to have done an activity together and laughed about it. Maybe there is a bit less hesitation from me to speak to them”, the quantitative dataset was too small to prove a significant increase in perceived social cohesion.
